Overview:
We decided the rainy weather made for another great pub evening so decided to come up with a place to visit. Sunnyvale has a number of “pubs” right on Murphy, so we decided to finally knock one of them off the list.

Chris’ Opinion:
I had been to Fibbar MaGees before on a Saturday night when everything turns into a bit of a “club” with dancing and loud music. I had a good time here (homeless lady humping my leg aside), but was hesitant to come here for some food and conversation as a result. Luckily, we figured we would go with it and ended up having a great time. The waitress was extremely nice (to us, she seemed pretty upset with her coworker) and attentive. The Chicken pie was terrific and went very well with the beer selection they had. I am now calling this beer selection the “English-themed American pub” standard. Take your traditional dive-bar selections, add Guiness and Newcastle, and you have a pub. To their credit, they did have Kilkenny and a few other less standard beers. Overall, I think this is a great spot to go for some food and relaxation, provided you get there early enough in the evening.

Karl’s Opinion:
I see this as a place that tries hard to be a “pub”…and succeeds.
The beer selection is great, the food menu quite extensive, and the service attentive. I had a veggie burger and a couple of pints-both tasty.
There is a small dining room away from the general dining/drinking area so if you want to try for a quiet-ish meal, you might have some luck.
I do like this place, unfortunately for me, so do a lot of other people. I would have thought that with all the pubs to choose from, these places wouldn’t all be so busy…and loud. I’m happy for their collective success but , with a few exceptions, I have not found a place that lets you relax. And how can you relax with a leg-humping homeless lady?
