Seabright BrewPub

Needing a reason to drive our new car, my dad and I decided to jump over the hill to Santa Cruz and this was the first place he wanted to try.  We showed up mid-day on a Sunday.

Chris’ Opinion:
Okay, admittedly this can definitely skew the situation so I want to mention it straight-off: it’s football season. I am not really a football guy, and while I have no problem with people who are, I would really prefer to eat without someone screaming, red-faced, and high-fiveing anyone in their basic vicinity. The food, beer, and location of this place is terrific, but the fact that it was football season really highlighted the fact that this is more of a sports bar. The walls are decorated with memorabilia, painted for local teams, and covered in TV’s in every direction. I have no problem with that, but it’s not a pub.  The sandwich was epic, as was the beer. The only reason I gave them a lower score is that they were out of two of the beers I wanted to try.  Overall, this is definitely a good place to go but not if you are looking for a pub.

Karl’s Opinion:
After getting over the fact that it wasn’t a “pub” (even though they advertise it as one), Seabright was great.  The food and drink selection and quality was impressive.  I don’t think it would have mattered if we had gone at a different time (off-season?), it just lacked something, warmth, for lack of a better word.
