Overview:
On the way back from Cameron’s we decided we needed to make one more stop while we had a designated driver. The Rose and Crown is located just off the main street in lovely Downtown Palo Alto. I normally avoid downtown due to the large crowd, but at around 7 on a Sunday evening it was not too bad.
Chris’ Opinion:
The Rose and Crown is a beer lover’s dream. Despite not having hard liquor, I would easily give their beverage selection a 9 based on their English, Belgian, and domestic microBrew beers. While we were not eating this time around, we have eaten here before and checked out the menu as a refresher. They have great “pub fare” here, but they don’t have the variety that would suit every palette. The place was very loud when we first got there, with music blaring. We were handed a menu by a friendly patron, who was in turn talking with a few new friends he had met. The bartenders and patrons made the place very welcoming. Once the music died down it really changed the atmosphere into what I would consider a near-perfect pub.

Karl’s Opinion:
What works for me most about the Rose and Crown is its location-tucked away in a corner of a parking plaza in downtown Palo Alto. It doesn’t try to force itself on you, it’s just there if you want (or need) a drink.
Go there for a pint of ale or a glass of wine. A perfect way to take a break from a day of window shopping or as a way to finish off a long day of…anything.
If you can find a parking space, definitely worth a stop.
